L'âge de la beauté (The age of beauty)
The True Beauty campaign that took place recently on EMU campus looked into different dimensions of beauty through body image, self image, and culture's image. The campaign focused on both women and men and their views of beauty. In L'âge de la beauté, I want to focus on the unique beauty of all women. I see beauty in the things women love to do and feel most like themselves while doing. The photographs I compiled are of women and girls of all different ages. I want to focus on the different generations of women and the unique gifts and values each individual brings to the world's beauty. The photographs show mothers, daughters, sisters, and friends. Each photograph provides an insight into each persons individual beauty through their personalities and the activities they love. Beauty does not have to be something in the faces or bodies of women, but it is something found within their personalities and actions. Through this project, I want to discover the beauty within each of these women.

In my few years at EMU, I have learned to love photography and the stories and emotions you can tell in a single image. The composition, lighting, and colors are all important aspects of photography, but equally important are the stories behind the pictures. By photographing these women in spontaneous actions, I can bring out their true personality and beauty. When I am with each person taking their picture, I try to relax them and get them in their comfort zone. The pictures that stand out to me most and create the most spontaneous beauty are the ones I snap in between an actual "pose." These photographs show the women laughing, telling a story, doing something special, or being in a favorite place. The pictures explore the true meaning of beauty I see in these women. I hope to bring out the inner beauty of women from all ages.
